Chinese Food


It's sharing time again! Last month we wrote a post featuring Korean Sushi Rolls that some of the ESL students at Internexus Provo shared. This month we wanted to give a shout-out to our Chinese students, by talking about famous dishes in China and their origins. I know you'll enjoy the article and will most likely want to order Chinese food when you're done! 

Chinese Food:(中餐)

Chinese cuisine has many different styles that are popular all over the world! 
Chinese cuisine originates a long time ago and has changed a lot over the centuries. As Chinese culture met other cultures through trade and imperial growth, many techniques and ingredients from other cultures were integrated into the food. This has resulted in a variety of dishes and methods of preparation, which the Chinese celebrate as traditional. 

中国菜是来自中国地区的几种风格,其中有粤菜川菜鲁菜淮扬菜、浙菜、闽菜湘菜徽菜八大菜系中餐在世界各地已越来越受欢迎- 从亚洲到美洲,澳洲,非洲西部和南部。中国菜的历史可以追溯到许多世纪以前,不同时期的变化,并在每个区域根据区域气候,帝国的时装,和当地的偏好而变化。中华饮食,源远流长。在讲究礼仪、讲究民以食为天的国度里,饮食礼仪自然成为饮食文化的一个重要部分随着中西方饮食文化的不断交流,中餐越来越受到外国人的青睐中餐的饮宴礼仪号称始于周公,千百年的演进,当然不会再有孟光接了梁鸿案那样的日子,但也还是终于形成今天大家普遍接受的一套饮食进餐礼仪,是古代饮食礼制的继承和发展。中餐饮食礼仪因宴席的性质,目的而不同;不同的地区,也是千差万别。



Yue (Guangdong, Cantonese) (粤菜)
Dim sum, which literally means "touch your heart", are small hearty dishes popular in China. The portions are bite-size and are prepared in many ways such as, frying, steaming, stewing, and baking. Because the portions are so small, you can try a variety of dishes in one sitting. This is perfect for people who can never decide what to order on the menu! 


点心,字面意思是触动你的心,是广东为小丰盛的菜肴。这些点心使用传统的烹饪方法如油炸,蒸,炖,烤。它的目的是使一个人可以品尝各种不同的菜肴。其中有些可能包括荷叶饭,肠粉,萝卜糕,包子,水娇饺子,煸炒的绿色蔬菜,粥,汤等餐饮,广式饮茶,结合了各种点心与茶的文化。饮茶的字面意思是茶饮料。粤语风格是独特的,魅力的菜肴,拥有悠久的历史和良好的信誉在国内和国外。其他地区的饮食和中国饮食文化的美食,这是很常见的。早在远古时代,与中原岭南越楚世家有着密切的联系。王朝历史的变化,很多人躲过了这场战争,并越过了中原,两个社区的日益一体化。中原文化逐渐转移到南部。因此,他们的食品生产技术,炊具,用具和财产变成农业出丰富的组合,这是粤菜的起源。粤菜起源于汉代。

粤菜取百家之长,用料广博,选料珍奇,配料精巧,善于在模仿中创新,依食客喜好而烹制。烹调技艺多样善变,用料奇异广博。在烹调上以炒、爆为主,兼有烩、煎、烤,讲究清而不淡,鲜而不俗,嫩而不生,油而不腻,有五滋”(香、松、软、肥、浓)六味”(酸、甜、苦、辣、咸、鲜)之说。时令性强,夏秋尚清淡,冬春求浓郁。粤菜著名的菜点有:鸡烩蛇龙虎斗烤乳猪、太爷鸡、盐焗鸡白灼虾白斩鸡烧鹅等。粤菜是一种文化,是一种气氛,是一种渲染,是一种和谐,是一种民俗,是一种色彩,也是一种健康标准的体现

Chuan (Szechuan) (川菜
Sichuan is another popular style of Chinese food which comes from the southwestern Province of China. This region is famous for food with strong flavors, and spice.  They tend to use a lot of garlic and chili peppers. Other common ingredients in this dish include peanuts, sesame paste and ginger.   

川菜是中国八大菜系之一,起源于四川、重庆,以麻、辣、鲜、香为特色。川菜原料多选山珍、江鲜、野蔬和畜禽。善用小炒、干煸、干烧和泡、烩等烹调法。以闻名,味型较多,富于变化,以鱼香、红油、怪味、麻辣较为突出。川菜的风格朴实而又清新,具有浓厚的乡土气息。著名代表菜品有:鱼香肉丝、回锅肉、麻婆豆腐、水煮鱼、夫妻肺片等等调味多变,菜式多样,口味清鲜醇浓并重,以善用麻辣著称,并以其别具一格的烹调方法和浓郁的地方风味。另外,花生,芝麻糊和生姜的成分也很突出这种风格。
